A cheerful bull with a kindly face is dressed for a festive celebration. Crafted of terracotta and painted by hand, this ceramic vessel comes from the traditions of Quinua in Ayacucho. “In olden times, such vessels were used to serve beverages at fiestas and also at wedding celebrations,” Juan Contreras Huarache explains. “Today, only a few people here continue this practice.” The decorative bull figurine licks its lips in seeming anticipation of a refreshing drink.
