25 Aug 2014 Collectible Bird Figurines
There are so many types of handicraft in our global village. Amongst all, wooden handcrafters have crafted all sorts of things and the most number of things so far. Name it and you get it. Starting from the daily utilitarian items to the most uncommon time consuming decorative ones, wooden handicraft have produced them all. But still there are certain things that didn’t get crafted much! And this specie is nothing else but the birds.
Bird handicraft is the most rarely found exotic handicraft all over the world. Not many countries have excelled in some sort of craft that showcases bird. Though birds have quite frequently appeared in paintings and cloth stitching, but very rarely it had appeared on stone or wood. Keeping this mind our Craft Montaz team has collected some rare bird figurines from nowhere else but India!
In India wooden hand crafters have carved mostly wooden peacock and owls. Peacock is the national bird of India and owl is considered a very good omen in the culture. Peacock is widely hand crafted, not just for the fact that this is the national bird of India, but of it personified beauty too. Wood carving is the most perfect handicraft to portray this beautiful bird.
Our first pick is a fully hand crafted peacock carved on the traditional see through block style. The block carving is done on the body and in Rajasthan one will often find this craft on elephant as well. Our second pick is a hand painted wooden owl. This creative owl has combination of multiple colors on its body. A very traditional coloring style on wood is used in this one.
These two birds are the signature show pieces of India. But apart from that, if you are an ardent craft collector, these bird handicrafts are going to be a rare collection in your stock!
